Double cleanse involves cleansing your face twice in order to remove dirt and grime more effectively. Learn more about double cleansing.

You must have heard of the double cleansing procedure if you've been a fan of "Keeping up with skincare." This process entails washing your face first with an oil-based cleanser and then with a water-based one. The primary motive of double cleansing is to achieve a deeper cleanse.

The first step is to clean your face with micellar water or an oil-based cleanser. This helps to get rid of any sunscreen and makeup traces. This process is followed by second cleaning, which helps remove toxins and other debris that you might not always be able to see with the naked eye. Here, any mild cleanser of your choice should work.

How to Double cleanse?

Step 1- Cleanse

Use a micellar water, oil-cleanser, or cleansing balm for this phase. Apply micellar water on a cotton pad if you're using it. Use your fingertips if you're applying a cleaning oil or balm.

Step 2- Work It In

You can massage the cleanser into your skin using cotton swabs or your fingers. This will dissolve any kind of residue, including sunscreen, sebum, and makeup, gently but efficiently.

Step 3- Rinsing is essential

Rinse the cleanser from your face with some water. If you want to make sure all of the residue is removed, you can keep rubbing it in a circular motion.

Step 4- The next cleanse

As usual, take a small bit of your face cleanser and gently massage it into your skin. When doing this, you can either use your fingertips or a face-washing tool.

Step 5- Dry it off

Rinse the soap from your face, being sure to get it off of your hairline and jawline as well. Dry thoroughly before applying your toner, serum, and moisturizer. Kudos for doing an incredible job at double cleansing

Why should we do double cleansing?

Makeup, sunscreen, sebum, and other oil-based pollutants can all be removed using an oil-based cleanser. By removing this material first, the second water-based cleanser may effectively penetrate the skin and remove things like filth and sweat. A double cleanse can revive dull skin and improve the penetration of other skin care products in addition to providing a deeper clean.

Benefits of double cleansing

1.Helps in breaking down-

The first cleanser, an oil-based one, breaks down all makeup and removes extra oils and grime built up throughout the day, which is the main advantage of double cleansing. As a result, the second cleanser may thoroughly clean the skin without having to remove heavy layers of makeup or filth.

2.Allows other products to work effectively

In addition to providing a deep cleanse, double washing may improve the penetration of your other skincare products. It prepares the skin by removing impurities and preparing it to better absorb other products like moisturizer and sunscreen.

3.Eliminates pore clogging

By preventing pore clogging, double washing lowers the likelihood of developing blackheads and other skin imperfections.

4.Not harsh to the skin

In comparison to harsh makeup removers and makeup wipes, double cleaning with an oil-based cleanser first is kinder to the skin.

5.Adds a glow to your skin

You'll notice that double cleansing helps to lighten dull skin and enhances your general complexion after a few weeks. This is a result of the skin being cleansed more thoroughly but gently.

FAQ’S

1.Is double cleansing every day important?

Double cleansing is very important for Oily and acne-prone skin. Those who wear makeup can also benefit from it.

2.Is double cleansing necessary even if I don't wear makeup?

It serves people who don't wear cosmetics as well. Sunscreen and other greasy things that accumulate on the skin naturally are removed by oil-based cleansers. The second cleaner won't have to work through an additional layer of pollutants once these have been removed.

3.Do dermatologists recommend double Cleansing?

Some dermatologists believe that double cleansing isn’t as important as it appears to be. It can cause the skin to become dry, irritated, and lose its protective layer, which in turn can result in problems like acne and eczema. But there is another choice if you want to help get rid of all the makeup. An excellent substitute for double washing is to remove makeup with micellar water before using a water-based cleanser.

The Conclusion-

If you have oily or acne-prone skin, double cleansing can actually be a blessing in disguise. Just be careful to use the right cleanser that will be gentle on your skin and not too stripping.
