Can we all agree to the fact that lip care is not something that we all focus on and think about every day? Instead, we just use a regular lip balm, once in a while and get done with it. We only consider lip care if we’re facing issues such as chapped/dry/pigmented lips. Hence, to avoid having such concerns, it’s good to have a lip care routine beforehand. Keep on scrolling to learn a super quick, 4 step lip care routine.

Easy to follow lip-care guide

1. Exfoliation

Just like the rest of your face, your lips also go through a lot the entire day. Hence, it becomes necessary to wipe off the dead skin cells from your lips. Exfoliation furthermore helps in better penetration of products used later. You can either use a physical lip scrub (store-bought or DIY) or a chemical exfoliator. Make sure to use mild chemical exfoliators such as mandelic or lactic acid.

2. Hydration

Lip essences or lip oils are great to deliver subtle hydration to your lips. This also ensures that if you are applying heavy lip balms or masks, they glide on much better. If you don’t own lip oil, you can just use cold-pressed, single-ingredient oils such as rosehip, squalene, etc. Rosehip oils are great to target lip pigmentation as well, which is a bonus!

3. Moisturization

A non-negotiable step in any skincare routine (for face, or lips) is using a moisturizer. A lip balm not only provides nourishment to your lips but also repairs your lips and restores lost shine. Lip balms contain nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, etc that can trap moisture and heal chapped lips.

Apart from a lip balm, you can also use a lip mask if you face extremely dry and cracked lips. A lip mask will work instantly on your lips, making it all hydrated and plump without much effort!

4. Sun Protection

No matter how hard times get, you should never skip protecting yourself from the harmful rays of the sun! And the best way to do this is by applying sunscreen. Just like the rest of our body, our lips also need protection from the sun and they’ll benefit greatly from it. You can either use a lip balm that has SPF in it or you can just apply a little bit of our favourite CoverUp Sunscreen on your lips along with your face. This will help in maintaining the natural colour of your lips.

A few other things to keep in mind to care for your lips are:

  • Don’t lick your lips too often
  • Avoid picking on your lips
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
  • If you can, avoid using very matte lipsticks
  • Stop smoking
  • Eat your antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables

So you committed the biggest skin sin. You failed to remove your makeup before going to bed. Perhaps last night's party was fun but that's not the case for your skin. You made your skin suffer and you know it. But you're not alone and you're definitely not the first. And it is for this reason that we have your back!

If you google, you'll see horror stories of what happened to people when they fell asleep with makeup on. But we won't let that happen to you. Here are some quick and easy tips to undo the damage.

First things first, clean your face.

When it comes to giving your skin a good refreshing cleanse, we rely on the double cleanse method. You won't get the same outcomes from your face wash alone as you will from an oil-based cleanser. Begin with taking some cleansing balm/oil and massage it onto the skin. This unclogs your pores and dissolves all the remnants of makeup, dirt and grime.

Next up is a water-based cleanser to give your skin a deep cleanse. Your skin is already stripped of its good nutrients so make sure to choose a hydrating and mild formula such as the Foxtale Daily Duet Face Wash. It is a pH-balanced face wash that has skin-loving ingredients that support the skin’s natural barrier. It is easy to use and doesn’t require much effort.

Give your skin a detox.

Now take a close look at your skin and examine the damage. Does it feel dry or oily or do you have breakouts? Pick a face mask as per your skin concern. If you cannot figure it out, just go for a clay-based mask or some good old Multani mitti DIY face mask. Remember, the goal is to restore your skin's lost glow while soothing, brightening, and revitalizing it.

Repair your skin barrier.

Between the harsh makeup that seeped into pores and the thorough cleansing to repair the damage, your skin has gone through a lot. Your skin barrier needs to be rebuilt right away. The best ingredients are used in the Foxtale Ceramide Supercream Moisturizer, which does the job perfectly. It gives your skin the nourishment it requires the most at this time. It is gentle on the skin, applies smoothly and imparts a healthy glow as well.

Shield your skin.

Now more than ever, you need to use sunscreen. Your skin requires as much protection as possible. Make sure to pick a sunscreen that doesn’t clog your pores, is lightweight and provides broad spectrum protection like the Foxtale Mattifying Cover-Up Sunscreen. It is also infused with niacinamide which imparts a subtle glow to your skin. Without much effort, you can now have your lost radiance back!
